April 8, 2016 (St. Bernard, Louisiana): The St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF) will be participating in the 2016 GiveNOLA Day, taking place May 3, 2016. The one-day, online giving event is designed to inspire people to give generously to nonprofit organizations.

GiveNOLA Day is an initiative of the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF). The program was modeled after other cities that have successfully raised money for the community.

From midnight to midnight on May 3, every dollar donated will be increased with additional "lagniappe" dollars provided by GNOF and GiveNOLA Day sponsors. In 2015, GiveNOLA Day raised $4 million dollars from 34,000+ donations around the nation.

SBEDF has seen significant momentum generated over the past 16 months, including the expansion of Working on the Water programming, participation in New Orleans Entrepreneur Week with the Startup St. Bernard pitch competition, and the creation of a robust real estate database that is marketed to site selectors. The attraction of Ship Tech Services and Walmart Neighborhood Market, bringing over 120 jobs to St. Bernard Parish, are highlights of their business development efforts.

"We are excited about St.Bernard's trajectory," said Andrew Jacques, Executive Director of SBEDF. "Metrics that we track, such as projects in our pipeline, positive media mentions, and contact with site selectors are all trending in the right direction. The next several years have the opportunity to be economically significant."
