Job Description: The Assistant to the Executive Director supports the day-to-day efforts of the St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF). SBEDF’s mission is to retain and create jobs, build prosperity, and improve the quality of life for St. Bernard citizens. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Assistant provides support in a one-on-one working relationship. The Assistant must enjoy working in a small, non-profit environment and be driven by bettering the community. The ideal candidate should have the ability to multitask with realistic balance, have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and have the capability to exercise good judgement. The position allows working independently on longer term projects, and requires the ability to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of issues, often confidential requiring discretion. Candidate should be driven to grow career.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides administrative support for the Executive Director
Oversees and manages assigned projects
Helps schedule, and possibly scribe, meetings with prospective businesses, local businesses, community stakeholders, and board members
Serves as a liaison to the board of directors, investors and the public
Organizes and coordinates executive outreach and external relations efforts
Identifies, executes and tracks grant opportunities
Performs research activities related to marketing, business development, and site selection (identifying sites for business expansion or relocation)
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
Driven to learn on the job and grow skill sets
Strongly desired skills include experience in various software (SalesForce, MailChimp, Prezi, etc.), graphic design, and grant writing
1-3 years of economic development or non-profit experience preferred
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Outstanding organizational skills
Ability to handle multitasking
Strong judgment and an understanding of when to escalate issues/problems
Professional demeanor at all times
