Complete Logistical Services Announces Expansion in St. Bernard Parish on 12th Anniversary
CHALMETTE, LA – Complete Logistical Services (CLS) staffing agency has just announced that it will be expanding its current St. Bernard Parish office space. Construction on the new building will start later this month and is expected to take 10-12 months to complete. It will include a 10,000 square foot modern building directly across the street from the company’s office on Lafitte Court in Chalmette.
For years, CEO Spencer Sens looked out his office window at the empty lot across the street and dreamt of what it would be like to have a new office there. A little over a year ago, the opportunity to purchase the lot presented itself. At the dawn of the company’s 12th anniversary, and on Spencer’s birthday no less, the dream has finally come to pass. On Thursday, the company’s team gathered with officials from St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce and St. Bernard Economic Development to break ground.
The Chalmette native stated that he is committed to staying in the area where he grew up. “I recently read that St. Bernard Parish is the fastest growing parish in the state. We are proud to be a part of that.”
CLS currently employs 25 in the Chalmette and Lafayette offices. As labor demands across the U.S. have increased, CLS has added staff throughout the pandemic to accommodate those needs. The company anticipates continued growth. Angela Verdin, president of the company spoke at the event.
According to Verdin, CLS plans to move their operations division into the new building and utilize the existing building for labor and workforce training. “From maritime labor to office personnel, there’s a great need for a trained workforce. In the near future, we plan to have the facilities and the team in place to train applicants for these open positions.”
The new building was designed by Architect David Chautin, a Chalmette native, and will be built by Campagna Construction, also local to St. Bernard. “Angela had a vision and design in mind,“ stated Warren Campagna, Jr. “They worked very well together to design a beautiful, modern building, something St. Bernard hasn’t seen in a while. We are anxious to get started on the construction.”
Local Economic Impact
Meaghan McCormack, St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation CEO, discussed the parish’s future economic and job growth. “There are many planned and developing projects in St. Bernard’s pipeline, including Domino Sugar’s multi-million-dollar warehouse expansion, Chalmette Refinery’s plans to retrofit an idle unit of the plant and develop a renewable diesel unit, and the Port of New Orleans potential container terminal expansion, to name a few.” She added, “Those businesses will need thousands of workers and CLS has the experience and tools to supply them. Having an established staffing agency in the parish will be crucial to ensure we connect our community members to those opportunities.”
Elizabeth Dauterive, Chamber CEO, added, “This new construction is very exciting. We have seen a lot of businesses redo and move into pre-existing structures. It’s great to see your growth and a need for a new building to accommodate all your daily operations.”
